What is Diabetes?
Diabetes is a chronic disease which is divided into two types:
a). Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 diabetes is caused by an immune reaction. This is called insulin-dependent diabetes. It is a chronic condition in which the ability of the pancreas to produce insulin is reduced or completely eliminated. Causes of Type 1 include family history (having Type 1 in any of the patient’s parents or siblings). It can occur at any age, but usually occurs in children, adolescents, or young adults.
b). Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is undiagnosed. An unhealthy lifestyle, being overweight, age forty-five or older, family history, and fatty liver are the main causes behind Type 2. Gestational diabetes also increases the risk of type 2.
